Truth About FastFood Salads

So since i'm trying to change my eating habits.
i try to go for healthier stuff..
but it's really tough when you're eating outside.

being a Muslim, my food needs to be certified Halal.
that already limits my food.
& i avoid any red meat.

i never realize so much that some Fast Food offers salad.
but are they really good for you?
i am not sure either.

i read a post from Taralynn, which is somehow my motivation.

that some salads has more calories than the other food they offer.
so that get me thinking.
did i make it any worst by ordering salad from a FastFood restaurant?





The other day, went for a meet up with my friends.
so met up with Zee first and grab my lunch/dinner.
i had to go to BurgerKing thought of just buying a drink.
the lemon tea that i love.

but they didnt have the lemon tea i wanted.
but they had this Salad.
Grilled Chicken Salad or some sort.
so i gave it a try.

There was lettuce, cherry tomato, cucumber and purple cabbage.
and also the grilled chicken though.
the portion was smaller than i thought it would.

it was alright. there weren't any dressing given
& i didn't ask for it.
but the chicken was rather salty.
but i finish it though.

& later i found out that, that small portion of salad was worth 240 Calories.
maybe not so bad but i think it's a little too much for that small portion.
but heck. better than the 600cal burgers they had.




& yesterday went into another FastFood Restaurant.
This time it was Wendy's.
Ordered the same kind.
Grilled chicken Caesar salad.

But Wendy's portion were different.
it was like more than twice the portion of Burger King offered.
I manage to finish it since i've been eating less Veggie nowadays.

For Wendy's they had some cut greens
which i think its lettuce and cabbage and maybe something else.
with parmesan cheese & croutons.
they even had a dressing by the side this time

i simply didn't pour in the dressing, afraid of how much cal it may contained.
so i simply dip my fork in it and grab the greens and eat it.
somehow i feel that the chicken is better than the Burger King.
Less Salty.

However, i found out that this salad has 350 Calories.
more than the Burger King.
BUT, if you compare both, Burger King has more calories.

if i ate the same portion i eat for Burger King's Salad to Wendy's Salad,
Burger King would have more calories than Wendy's



So then i checked the healthier food in Singapore.
and it was in fact way more limited.

the restaurant that i need to try out is;
Swensen's, Fish & Co. and Figs & Olive.
this 3 restaurants have this Healthier Choice symbol on their menu.
so it does helps.

So now i need to try out their salad, but idk when.
and not all of their salads have this Healthier Choice symbol.
so careful what you order.
read through what they offer and pick the one you think good for you.


don't be fooled when Fast Food offers Salad.
That is just one way for them to trick you.
so for now, i need to be careful when i'm eating out.

it is in fact so difficult to chose a place where to eat out.
if only all of the restaurants has a healthier choice.
not only that, i wish it was all halal too.

Singapore is so small, not a lot of halal restaurants either.
